On Maui, tens of thousands of invasive axis deer are eating their way through the island's ranchlands, and a $50 bounty on each tail forces two generations of men who love the same land to decide what they're willing to do to keep it.

Jerry, 68, whose family has worked the same mountain since 1902, has cut his herd in half and already signed his 1,400-acre ranch over to his daughter. Daniel, 28, hunts the deer and collects the bounty.

"Cannot give up," Jerry said. "You just gotta keep going."
